As the popular saying goes, ما لم تقم بالعبء انت، فمن يقوم به اذا؟ (If you do not take on the burden, then who will?)
Everyone complains that the Muslim world is in a horrible state, becoming irreligious, forgetting its origins, history and the legacy left by our predecessors, and everyone has an opinion on why that is. But the main question that arises is, is anyone willing to take any action? Is anyone going to take accountability and stand up?
We can pin the responsibility for the well being of the Muslim world on our authoritarian regimes riddled with corrupt politicians, terrorism by different khawarij groups, the militias, the oil based economy and and a plethora of other problem and groups. But the hard truth to swallow is that it is in fact OUR fault and OUR responsibility. It is imperative upon none other than US to ensure that the Ummah stays on the right path in its times of good and bad.
If our leaders, politicians, businessmen and those among us that have inherited the Ummah of the prophet ﷺ are corrupt, who else will hold them accountable but the people? If the streets are old, dirty, filled with potholes, who else will fix them but the people? If you are a policeman, soldier or a politician, perhaps you should hold yourself accountable and stop oppressing the people and taking bribes before you complain about the state of the Ummah.
If you are a shopkeeper, businessman or a trader, perhaps you should stop deceiving people and taking bribes before you complain about corruption. Perhaps your wealth could be used to serve a greater cause of making the world a better place. It could be used to feed the hungry, teach the illiterate, give homes to the homeless and shelter them with clothes.
If you think the streets are so old and dirty, perhaps stop throwing trash on them and pick up a few in the way before you complain. And if you think the populace is uneducated, perhaps pickup a book or two before you complain.
Yes as individuals we are small and there isn’t much in our hands that we can do on our own, but we can have tremendous impact if we are determined.
And it is with that determination and will to make an everlasting impact in mind that I begin this blog, with not a dollar, a 12 year old laptop on 1 GB RAM and still a student, The Cyber Bedouins, to address these issues, give possible solutions to them and promote discourse and contemplation with regards to the. So that we can get our message across. So that we can get the Quran and Sunnah across. So that we can bring end to corruption, poverty, mismanagement and most importantly, lack of innovation and foresight that plague us.
“إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا۟ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ”
“Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” – Quran 13:11
